An interesting article regarding Genuine Dermaroller Therapy on the award winning Riverbanks clinic blog by Dr Ravi Jain. The article can be viewed from the link http://bit.ly/aqSACo
Seeing as it’s the start of a new year, we thought it might be worthwhile taking a bit of time to shout about the terrific press coverage we’ve had over the last few months. We’re thrilled that so many journalists are on-board with Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™, and that the press coverage seems to just keep on coming.
The Daily Mail have featured us not once, but twice, in November and again in January this year, giving us two full pages of treatment reviews, with Amanda Platell saying “my skin looks so much fresher and younger, more line free and tighter without looking taught”, and Alice Hart-Davis claiming “my skin was looking much improved. A bit fresher, a bit livelier, maybe even a bit tighter. It had to be the Dermaroller.” We’re always ecstatic when we receive great feedback from our clients, and even more so when they tell millions of people about it! Other recent press coverage includes: The Sunday Mirror, Attitude (another full page feature!), InStyle, The Daily Mirror, The Salon, Cosmetic Surgery and Aesthetics Magazine and My Weekly, plus lots of regional coverage from around the UK.
And since the start of January, Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ has been featured in Company Magazine, The Daily Telegraph, The Irish Independent and in the February issue of Woman & Home!
To all of those journalists who have written about us – thank you. We strongly believe that this terrific coverage, coupled with the fantastic support of our medical practitioners, really has established micro-needling as a mainstream aesthetic treatment, and Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ as the market leader in this arena. Our aim was to establish Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ as the best micro-needling treatment available, and we really feel that we’ve achieved this. In fact, we’ve now trained over 450 medical practitioners throughout the UK and this number is growing every day. Our training is second-to-none – 100% of those who attend our training sessions rate our training as good or excellent. To find out more, please look on our training pages.
If you’ve read about us in the press, or if you have any comments on our media activity, please do let us know. And if you’ve had a Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ treatment recently, we’d love to hear how it went, and what you thought! Please feel free to contact me on cathy@azariapr.co.uk.
A search for Dermaroller or Derma Roller on the internet will lead you to Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ but it may also throw up a few other options for you to look at and you may see other descriptions or terms such as collagen induction therapy, skin needling or micro-needling. The key issue to focus on is that to receive an effective treatment using this technology for lines & wrinkles, sun damage & pigmentation, acne scars or stretch marks with optimum safety and minimal down time the procedures should always be done with the highest quality sterile single-use medical devices and carried out by a trained medical aesthetic practitioner. Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ using a Genuine Dermaroller™ medical device, carried out by a trained medical aesthetic practitioner at an authorised Dermaroller™ clinic is the surest way to guarantee this.
The Cosmetic Skin Clinic, www.cosmeticskinclinic.com, is one of the leading non-surgical medical aesthetic clinics in the UK. Led by Dr Tracy Mountford an international opinion leader in cosmetic medicine they are one of the leading providers of Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™. Medical aesthetic practitioner and patient feedback from the Cosmetic Clinic can now be found on the "Testimonials" page www.genuinedermaroller.co.uk/GenuineDermarollerComments.aspx along with comments and testimonials from other leading medical aesthetic practitioners and their patients from across the UK & Ireland. Thank you for reading
Leading beauty journalist Amanda Platell writes of her experience with Genuine Dermaroller Therapy in the Daily Mail today following treatment by the highly skilled Specialist Aesthetic Nurse Lee Garrett at Freedom Health, 60 Harley Street, W1G 7HA. A brief overview of the article and a link to the Daily Mail web page are below. Lee's and Freedom Health's contact details and those of all Genuine Dermaroller approved clinics and trained practitioners across the UK and Ireland are available on the Genuine Dermaroller web site www.genuinedermaroller.co.uk follow the link http://tiny.cc/ApprovedClinics to go straight to the clinic search page
The Daily Mail, January 2010: Rolling back the years: AMANDA PLATELL pins her hopes of looking younger on an agonising new beauty gadget
In a full page review on Genuine Dermaroller Therapy: “The treatment claims to 'significantly improve' the appearance of lines and wrinkles on your face and decollete. I can definitely vouch for the effects of the face, as that's all I had done… So, do I look like Angelina Jolie? Well, I already had the fat lips, but now my skin looks so much fresher and younger, more line free and tighter without looking taught.”
In just under a year, Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ has firmly established itself as the market leader in micro-medical skin-needling procedures. The skin regeneration treatment loved by celebrities, the media, aesthetic aficionados and natural beauty fans alike, is now available throughout the UK from an impressive 417 medical practitioners. And that number is increasing daily; more than 40 practitioners are signing up to offer the procedure each month, with the training diary booked up months in advance.
Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ was launched in the UK in early 2009 by AesthetiCare®, a division of Ferndale Pharmaceuticals, to nationwide acclaim. “The concept of using micro-needling to regenerate collagen production is not a new one,” says Roger Bloxham, Managing Director. “There have been pockets of users in America, Europe and Asia over the last few years often focusing on acne scarring, which have established the efficacy and safety profile of the procedure, but it’s only now that Dermaroller™ is being widely accepted as a mainstream non-surgical cosmetic treatment. The quality of the Dermaroller™ medical devices and the techniques that have been developed by medical practitioners are now delivering fantastic results for lines and wrinkles, photo-damage and pigmentation as well as acne scarring, and these are the primary reasons for the expansion.”
Roger continues: “It should be beyond doubt that micro-medical skin-needling is a medical aesthetic procedure, and that the quality of the medical device and associated regulatory standards must be adhered to. Unfortunately, as so often happens with non-surgical procedures, the internet and ‘direct to consumer’ sales start to come into play. In addition, because of the market opportunity that has been created, products manufactured without compliance to the EU medical device regulations (sometimes with false claims) are promoted to medical practitioners. It’s the case with lasers and lights so it should not be a surprise that it's also happening within the Dermaroller™ market. However, with Genuine Dermaroller™ medical devices and Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ the quality and assurance that patients and practitioners need, and should demand, is guaranteed; it is the only genuine CE marked medical device available in this category. Crucially, it is a class IIa sterile single-use device."
"Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ is only available form trained medical aesthetic practitioners and authorised clinics. We have strived to provide a high level training and support service; the procedure is primarily device and technique driven, and as the Dermaroller™ is being used by skilled practitioners it soon becomes a straight forward procedure, but as it’s still new to so many of our clients, we believed it was important for us to focus on training and support. Information on the training service is available on the www.genuinedermaroller.co.uk website, which includes detailed participant satisfaction scores and feedback. It's gratifying that we’ve had such good feedback but it’s also a reflection of the quality of those practitioners being trained. The demand for Genuine Dermaroller™ training is incredibly high, most of the requests we now receive from practitioners are by recommendation and word of mouth – hopefully a reflection of the level of service and support we are providing."
AesthetiCare® has also focused on developing their in-clinic support materials, the www.genuinedermaroller.co.uk website and the PR programme. "The objective has been to drive demand and interest to the approved Genuine Dermaroller™ clinics so that potential clients can get the right advice and the best treatments,” says Roger. “We’ve had some fantastic press recently which is getting everyone talking. This in turn has led to an increase in website activity, and an increased level of interest in Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ has also been reported within many clinics. The number of procedures being conducted in many of the leading medical aesthetic clinics across the UK and Ireland means that Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ is now a major medical aesthetic skin rejuvenation procedure.”

The training and support of medical aesthetic practitioners in Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ and the supply of Genuine Dermaroller™ medical devices is what we do, think and dream about (I know, we are that sad!). What makes it worthwhile are the great results micro-medical skin- needling with the Genuine Dermaroller™ by trained practitoners achieves, we hear this every day and sometimes we get this feedback in writing. I just wanted to share with you the thoughts of Dr Rose an experienced and fantastic Cosmetic Physician who has been trained and is an authorised Genuine Dermaroller™ practitioner treating clients throughout Liverpool, Manchester and Cheshire.
Dr Rose wrote: I've had some great experiences so far with the Genuine Dermaroller™ - the simplicity of the treatment really seems to appeal to my patients as there's nothing actually injected into the skin - to some it feels almost more like having a super facial than a non-surgical treatment. My patients are being complimented on how good their skin looks almost straight away which is wonderful, and it's a treatment they don't seem to mind telling others about - unlike some of the injectables....I have also had some positive feedback for use with mild acne scarring after just one treatment and also from my patients who are regularly using their home meso-rejuvenation Genuine Dermaroller™. There definitely seems to be a "Genuine Dermaroller glow" and smoothness to treated skin.
Although there seem to be more derma rollers and home derma rollers coming onto the market I always feel confident with the Genuine Dermaroller™ and the support I get from AesthetiCare and that I've chosen a truly safe and excellent tool for my patients. Thanks for reading.
Don’t get fooled into thinking that skin-needling or using a dermaroller is a procedure you should do yourself at home, no matter what some of the non-medical device needle roller re-sellers and websites say.
There are a number of terms used for the treatment, skin needling, microneedling, collagen induction therapy. The only true procedure that uses an authorised medical device by fully trained medical practitioners at trained and authorised clinics is Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™.
So why is it important to use a medical device and be treated by a trained practitioner, why not go DIY as some of the internet retailers encourage you to do. Firstly let's look at the treatment; for an effective procedure your practitioner will be looking to achieve approx 300 micro medical needle channels per cm² in to the dermis of the skin using a Genuine Dermaroller™ medical device with a 1.5mm needle length. They will be looking to achieve the clinical end points of pin-point bleeding, uniform redness and slight swelling across the treatment area. The Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ will however be comfortable, a topical anaesthetic will be applied - it is crucial that this should be done under medical supervision - this "numbing" effect along with the quality of the Genuine Dermaroller™ device and the technique of the trained practitioner will make the procedure a very acceptable experience. The practitioner will be trained to effectively treat all areas of a scar, stretching and manipulating the injury as they treat the area. For anti-ageing, lines, wrinkles and pigmentation they will treat the whole face, neck, décolleté and also with great care be able to treat the delicate eye area, working all around the orbital rim and even across the eye lid, and effectively treat the skin around the mouth and the top lip. To do this safely and effectively with self-treatment, clearing the toothbrushes out of the way and stood in front of the bathroom mirror is not a decision most people would make and to encourage it as some internet sites do is considered by most to be irresponsible.
Take a look at the clinical training page on the Genuine Dermaroller™ website www.genuinedermaroller.co.uk/DermarollerPractitionerInformationTraining.aspx over 370 practitioners have now been trained in the UK and Ireland, and the number grows each week. They give up their time to review the treatment, the contra-indications -what to do for example if a patient has a history of cold sores, or is on certain medications or has other pre-existing medical conditions. They review the procedure and the key techniques, observe a Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ procedure and perform a treatment under the supervision of a medical practitioner and trainers, highly experienced in the treatment. These experienced medical professionals recognise the great benefits the treatment can bring to their patients when they use the highest quality devices - The Genuine Dermaroller™ medical devices - and conduct the treatment with a trained technique and with access to high levels of professional support and back-up.
They and us at AesthetiCare could make a quick buck by using products that are not of the same quality as the Dermaroller™ medical devices manufactured by Dermaroller SARL, Germany. If the practitioner didn't bother with the training, or we sold directly to members of the public over the internet without bothering to provide training and didn't limit supply to trained practioners and authorised clinics it could save us time and money, two commodities we can all do with more of. But neither the medical practitioners or us at AesthetiCare do this, because we put patient safety and treatment efficacy at the forefront of everything we do.
Remember if you do not see the Dermaroller
logo (to the left) on the outer packaging of the device and it is not manufactured by Dermaroller SARL, Germany, then it is not a Genuine Dermaroller™ medical device. Trained and approved Genuine Dermaroller™ medical professionals and clinics only use Genuine Dermaroller™ medical devices, we do not supply to anybody else. Also please remember Genuine Dermaroller™ medical devices are sterile single-use, so your safety will never be compromised by a device that has been stored and re-used.
If you think you are a potential candidate for Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ make sure you consult and discuss your needs with a trained and approved Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ practitioner and clinic, initial information can be found on this website on the find a clinic page www.genuinedermaroller.co.uk/GenuineDermarollerClinics.aspx . Only medical practitioners and clinics that have had their practitioners go through the thorough Genuine Dermaroller™ medical device training can use the Genuine Dermaroller™ if you are in doubt please contact us by email or Freephone 0800 0195 322 and we can advise.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this blog and hope you found it helpful, Roger
Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ continues to go from strength to strength. Over the last few months we have been working tirelessly to spread the word about the procedure, and we’re thrilled to report that the word is indeed getting out there in quite a phenomenal fashion. Over the last month or so, we’ve held a number of press appointments in Harley Street, London, with the UK’s brightest and best beauty press to promote Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ and to firmly establish the treatment as the UK’s most effective skin regeneration procedure.
Following their treatments, journalists’ feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. One journalist (and new mother) had such great results with Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ on her post-pregnancy stretchmarks that she’s booked in to have two further treatments!
With fantastic coverage in Hello!, Grazia and the Times Magazine earlier in the summer we thought that our good fortune may be wavering when we had a piece appear in the Evening Standard by a journalist who had tried the treatment in September. Overall it was a positive review, but she had finished the piece by saying that she wouldn’t necessarily have the Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ again. As we’re so confident of the fantastic results with Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ this caused us some concern. She had filed the piece only a week or so after having the treatment and, although in her article she had said her skin looked good, at the time she wrote the piece she hadn’t seen just how good it would eventually look!
However, this particular journalist has since been in touch to say that she is now receiving compliment after compliment about her skin: "Four weeks on, people keep telling me that my skin is looking great", and that it must be down to Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™. Rest assured we’re keen to book her in for another treatment, so she can see how her skin will continue to improve. She’s promised to come along and to make amends so we’ll keep you posted on the results. Company Magazine also featured Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ in a round up of the latest high tech facials in their November issue. According to the journalist: “my pores are a little smaller on the side that was treated and definitely feel less clogged”. This piece was also filed soon after the journalist had had her treatment and we’re confident that she would have seen even more of an improvement in the weeks that followed!
Other fantastic coverage recently includes:
Marie Claire (featured as ‘going up’ in their beauty barometer); the Daily Telegraph Magazine (recommended as a less extreme treatment for ageing skin); Tatler (“a natural-looking and painfree way forward in cosmetic procedures”); R Magazine (“Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ is comfortable, safe and effective”); and the UK’s biggest selling Asian magazine, Asiana (recommended as a treatment for acne scarred and pigmented skin).
We are enormously grateful to all of those publications and journalists who have chosen to feature Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ – thank you. Thank you also to those medical practitioners who have been speaking to the press themselves about the treatment, especially to Dr Michael Prager who has been singing our praises to the media and is responsible for the fantastic coverage in Hello!, Marie Claire, Grazia and Tatler. It’s so wonderful to know that we all want to spread the good news.
All of this brilliant media coverage not only seems to encourage new clients to try Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ for themselves but is also having a substantial effect on the number of medical practitioners who want to offer the treatment at their clinics. We have now trained 366 aesthetic practitioners throughout the UK and, as you can see on our Training for Medical Practitioners page, this number is increasing all the time and the feedback that is being reported on the results is fantastic.
If you have had a Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ treatment recently, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Please feel free to contact me on cathy@azariapr.co.uk
In the meantime, thank you again for reading our blog, and for your interest in Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™.
Cathy McKenzie, Azaria PR, cathy@azariapr.co.uk
Hello & welcome to the new and updated www.genuinedermaroller.co.uk website the home of Dermaroller™ information and micro-medical skin-needling treatment in the UK & Ireland.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and use the site. It is here for your benefit so if you can not find the information you need please let us know. The information you will read about and see across the site relates to the Genuine Dermaroller™ medical devices, which when used by a trained practitioner in an approved Genuine Dermaroller™ clinic will result in Natural Skin Regeneration and Scar Repair™ or Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ which can result in smoother, brighter, healthier, younger looking skin and the improvement and smoothing of atrophic scaring caused by diseases, such as acne and chicken pox, and injury.
Genuine Dermaroller™ medical devices are the only micro-medical skin-needle roller that can be legally classified as an approved medical device in Europe, complying with the requirements set out in the European Medical Device Directive. The CE mark that is carried on the Genuine Dermaroller™ packaging is a symbol of quality and assurance that provides medical practitioners and their patients with peace of mind and enables a quality of treatment to be provided that is the bench mark that others should match. The Dermaroller SARL manufacturing facility in Germany and the Dermaroller™ manufacturing process are externally inspected and certified by MedCert a highly respected German medical device notified body. The Certificate of Conformity and the Manufacturing ISO13485 Certificate they provide for the Dermaroller™ medical devices and the Dermaroller SARL manufacturing process and facility are your assurance of quality and sterility.
The Dermaroller™ medical devices are designed to be used by trained medical practitioners and their clinics in a procedure that will create approx 300 micro-medical skin-needle channels per cm2 in to the dermis of the skin. Below the outer stratum corneum layer of the epidermis the needle is penetrating in to living tissue. In the dermis, the target area of Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™, there is a complex of epithelial cells, blood supply, nerve cells, extracellular matrix, collagen, elastin and cells such as fibroblasts that help produce and repair this essential part of our bodies. By providing a controlled physical stimulation of the dermis your practitioner is able to initiate a natural skin regeneration and repair process. To achieve the desired results it is often necessary to carry out 3 procedures approx 6 weeks apart, this will always be done under consultation and agreement with your medical aesthetic clinic. To see and read some of the results that can be achieved check out the Therapy Results page and the What the Practitioners and Patients say page on this website.
But don’t get fooled in to thinking that this is a procedure you can do your self at home, no matter what some of the non-medical device roller re-sellers and websites say. For an effective treatment your practitioner will be looking to achieve pin-point bleeding, uniform redness and slight swelling across the treatment area. The Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ will however be comfortable, a topical anaesthetic will be applied (this should only be used under medical supervision), this “numbing” effect along with the quality of the device and the technique of the trained practitioner will make the procedure a pleasant experience. Because Genuine Dermaroller™ practitioners have been through thorough training effective treatment can be provided around the delicate mouth area, around the sensitive eye contour and even on the eye-lids, but this should only be done under the care of a trained medical professional within an approved Genuine Dermaroller™ medical aesthetic practice.
The tremendous benefits of Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ are not only the fantastic clinical results but the excellent safety profile and lack of down-time associated with the procedure. Because the Genuine Dermaroller™ medical device is of such high quality, with precision surgical needles that are incredibly sharp and a medically engineered design, minimal pressure is required to achieve the creation of the multiple skin-needle columns and virtually no unnecessary peripheral damage is caused to the skin. Therefore your practitioner can achieve optimum stimulation of the dermis, whilst keeping the outer layer of the skin the epidermis intact. This reduces the risk of exposure to UV and minimises the “social down time”. Normally after a procedure the skin looks like moderate sun burn that will normally significantly reduce within 12 to 24 hours.
If you think you are a potential candidate for Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ make sure you consult and discuss your needs with a trained and approved Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ practitioner and clinic, initial information on who you can contact can be found on this website on the find a clinic page. Only medical practitioners and clinics that have had their practitioners go through the thorough Genuine Dermaroller™ medical device training can use the Genuine Dermaroller™ if you are in doubt please contact us by email or Freephone 0800 0195 322 and we can advise.
Finally if you do not see the Dermaroller® logo shown below on the outer packaging of the device then it is not a Genuine Dermaroller™ medical device, trained and approved Genuine Dermaroller™ medical professionals and clinics only use Genuine Dermaroller™ medical devices, we do not supply to any body else. Also please remember Genuine Dermaroller™ medical devices are sterile single-use, so your safety will never be compromised by a device that has been stored and re-used.
Thank you for reading and looking forwarding to helping you. Roger
