No Pain No Gain!
My third Genuine Dermaroller treatment was completed just before Christmas. This was likely to be my final treatment so I want to let you know how I have been getting on, and what I think of this treatment that I was extremely lucky to be offered to try for review.
You can read my previous posts on the site but to quickly explain the dermaroller has a barrel covered in tiny needles designed to puncture the skin. The stimulated dermis then repairs itself by producing new collagen and elastin and this can significantly improve the appearance of acne scars, ageing and sun-damaged skin, wrinkles and, in my case, stretch marks.
I should add that Renew Medica in Knightsbridge has had a bit of a makeover and the new design is very glamorous.
As usual after my hour with the numbing cream I had about 10-15 minutes of dermaroller which was a few minutes on each thigh. Afterwards there are lots of tiny puncture marks which are a bit red, warm and sore. You are then cleaned up and sent of with your Chiroxy cream to keep the area moisturised.
After about 2 days this time it had healed, and the next week, there was no trace of anything on my leg or any bruising etc.
I remember Toni (Dr Toni Phillips) telling me on my first appointment that the treatment was not an instant fix, and she advised that she needed to do at least three sessions, six weeks apart and that the best results would show from six months onwards.
My first treatment was in August 2010 so we are now 5 months along and I can say that there is an absolutely huge improvement in the areas that have been dermaroller -ed. The skin is fresher, smoother, better texture, firmer and most importantly the stretchmarks are only 98% invisible!
I actually didn't expect such a dramatic improvement at all and am seriously over the moon with the results. I also think that if I had wrinkles and saggy skin on my face I would give this is a go although you would definitely need to get a taxi home as you wouldn't want anyone to see you with a big red face!
So overall not only does this treatment work but it works brilliantly. I would recommend Genuine Dermaroller and Dr Toni Phillips from Renew Medica in Knightsbrige very very highly to anyone with stretchmarks due to weight gain and/or loss or pregnancy as it really has worked wonders for me.
